Arts Arising Schedules

 2017 Dates: June 5-20 for rising 4th graders; June 5-29 for rising 5th - 7th

ARTS ARISING: DAYS 1-11(rising 4th – 7th graders)

The day begins with a 30 minute warm-up activity. Students spend 3 hours each day in their core area class, 2 hours each day in their interdisciplinary study and 1 hour attending a performance.

8:30 – 9:00 Group activity and warm up

9:00 – 12:00 Morning Core Area Classes

12:00 – 12:30 Lunch

12:30 – 1:30 Visiting Artist

1:30 – 3:30 Interdisciplinary Classes

3:30 – Dismissal


OPEN HOUSE TUESDAY: DAY 12
(last day for rising 4th graders)

Parents are invited to visit the program on day 12. Arts Arising students will present an interdisciplinary performance as a culmination of the first 12 days of the program in the Fine Arts Center's Wood Auditorium at 2:00 p.m. The performance is scheduled so that parents who attend may take their children home at the conclusion of the program. Regular bus transportation will also be available.  Adjusted Schedule:

8:30 – 9:00: Group activity and warm up

9:00 – 12:00: Morning Core Area Classes

12:00 – 12:30: Lunch

12:30 – 2:00:  Open House Rehearsal

2:00 – 3:30:  Open House Wood Auditorium

3:30:  Dismissal

This performance is not a formal play, but a demonstration of the learning and growth process that has taken place over the last two weeks even though it is very entertaining.

(rising 5th– 7th graders)

8:30 – 9:00 Group activity and warm up

  9:00 – 12:00 Group project development

    12:00 – 12:30 Lunch

12:30 – 1:30 Critical Response Review

      1:30 – 3:30 Ensemble work

DAY 19: EARLY DEPARTURE/SHOWCASEParticipation is mandatory for all rising 5th - 7th graders

8:30 - 12:00 Rehearsal

12:00 - 12:30 Lunch

12:30 - 1:30 Rehearsal

1:30 Dismissal (return with parents)

6:00 - 7:00 Art Exhibit Bassett Gallery

7:00 pm Showcase - Wood Auditorium

3rd graders are invited to see the Art Exhibit and the Show.  Videotaping and photography are not permitted during the showcase. Students have complained that it is distracting. There will be a video available at a nominal fee. If at all possible children under 6 should not attend the showcase. Art projects will remain on display until July 30th. Art projects may be picked up during August.
