Kevin is a composer and multi-instrumentalist. He offers lessons to all brass instrumentalists, including trumpet, trombone, baritone, and horn and is available for tutoring in all aspects of music theory, including the fundamentals of reading music and in AP music theory. Jaston Hawes graduated from the USC/Columbia earning a Performance Certificate in Voice as well as his B.A. in Music Education (K-12). He earned his Masters in Choral Conducting (under the direction of Dr. Larry Wyatt and Dr. Alicia Walker) and served as the assistant Director of the Dutch Fork Choral society). Jaston has acted as the music director for musicals at the FAC for the last two years and teaches General Music Education for Kershaw County Public Schools. Amanda Britt is a graduate of Winthrop University. She studied Opera, Musical Theatre and Classical Music. Amanda has been performing in shows at the FAC for two years and teaches several Musical Theatre classes for all ages. Sarah Gavin is a violinist of 17 years proficient in Classical, Bluegrass, Irish and Scottish Celtic Fiddle performance and training. She studied at West Virginia University as well as the Music Life and Eastern Shore School of Music. She is not only classically trained, but also trained in a variety of folk music. She has orchestral and chamber experience with an extensive repertoire in all violin/fiddle genres for solo, orchestra and group. She has competition experience in Celtic and Bluegrass and is an experienced teacher of private and group lessons. Sarah’s bachelors in Japanese language and literature from Ohio State University and study abroad in Tokyo, Japan has provided her experience on Japanese traditional stringed instruments.

How to Read Music
Want to learn how to read music? Ever wonder what all those lines and symbols really mean, or what it means when someone says F Major? Then this is the class for you! You will start with the basics and progress through the music. By the time you finish this class, you will know how to read music and be able to play the basic notes on the piano.
