This is a build-your-own class based upon your interests and availability. The registration process will allow you to answer some questions about your interests and availability - The minimum price is $21, and you build from there. Dates correspond to build and tech rehearsal schedule of our summer show, The Spongebob Musical.
Students will have a hand in every technical aspect of producing a show on the mainstage at the Arts Center of Kershaw County, Based on student's interests and availability, students will be able to stage carpentry as part of building a set, learn about sound and light design, learn about backstage and production roles, and see the whole process from design to strike! Supervised by Resident Technical Director Richard Kiraly, this will be a hands-on theatre-resume-builder for anyone with an interest in technical theatre skills.
In this class you will learn how to read music for those interested in participating in musicals or singing anywhere. This will kick your audition up a notch as you will be better able to read music presented to you on the spot. It will also lead to a much easier task of learning your parts in a show, so that the harmonies comes quicker!
We will cover everything from basic music theory to how to find your notes on the piano. Knowing how to read music is very important if you want to be in a musical or a choir. It is also important for anyone interested in music. This is for all levels of readers. Some of this will be a review for some and brand new for others!
On the outside always looking in will I ever be... able to play that role? NO? But during Miscast Night all bets are off! Come sing roles you could never play right now! Maybe a girl wants to be the Phantom or a boy wants to be Annie... Maybe someone older wants to play Matilda or someone young wants to be the Witch... Whatever you dream of you can do in MISCASTS!

Teen and Adults
Join Kara Matney, costumer for the Arts Center of Kershaw County to learn about all that is entailed in costuming a show. What is a costume book or a costume shop? How do you decide on designs for the show and where or how are the costumes created? Having worked recently with the touring company of Disney's the Lion King, Kara has lots of insight to share. You will use what you learn to help create costumes for an actual show.

Preschool Art Camp New Mexico
Campers explore a variety of art media. Each two-day session has its own unique theme: session #1 travels to New Mexico. The program is a blend of guided explorations and group activities designed to spur curiosity. Students are encouraged to bring a snack and water. Mornings - 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Preschool Art Camp (age 4 to 6) New Zealand

Join us as we use various artistic methods to create the creatures that live in the ocean. Art camp promotes self-esteem and creative problem solving all centered on having fun with the arts. Campers work with artists in a variety of visual art media. Materials included. Students should bring a personal snack and water.
Summer Camp Ages 11-14
Designed especially for those middle year when young theatre students are growing and changing. This year campers will learn about what goes on backstage at a performance. They will learn about costumes, properties, make up and what a stage manager and stage crew do. Students should bring a personal snack and water.
Creative Make-up for the Stage (ages 14 and up)
Start with the basics and them move into creating unusual characters for the stage with Jess Britt. Learn how to use contrast, contour, and color to design all kinds of make-ups from fairytale creature or animals to special effects. Then if you like, join Jess to assist actors with their make up for our Summer Show! July 18 - 22
